Maurice Mercer

Raised by a nurse mother and veteran father, Maurice Mercer earned his degree in business administration from Troy University. He built a career as an account executive while serving three terms on the Pelham City Council, where he became its first Black member and later council president. Grounded in community leadership and kitchen-table economics, Mercer’s legislative platform prioritizes raising the federal minimum wage, expanding access to affordable healthcare while protecting rural hospitals, and strengthening public schools through workforce development programs. He is running to bring collaborative, practical, and transparent leadership to Congress for working families.
